There may be better ways to spend Saturdays, but to us it’s all about watching Premier League football

You just love to see it! A new season arrives and you feel all giddy and curious. New fixture list, clean slate for most teams and players, brand new shirts, exciting signings ready to make their mark on the most popular football league in the world – it’s all happening!Traditionally, English football league games all took place on Saturday afternoons. The introduction of television started to slowly change kick-off times, and the foundation of Premier League in 1992 sped up the process. These days, all games are transmitted live with millions of spectators worldwide glued to TV screens. Despite all the changes, however, watching football on Saturdays is still a bit special. Here are the games that await us today.Manchester United v Leeds UnitedThe famous Roses Rivalry between these two clubs has a historic background that can be traced all the way to the 15th century. The two sets of fans really don’t like each other and are desperate to get one over their rivals. Leeds are winless in their last 16 league visits to Old Trafford against Man Utd (drew six and lost ten) since a 1-0 win in February 1981, and lost 6-2 there last season. They have played more Premier League matches at Old Trafford without winning than any other stadium.UNITED UNITED UNITEDGood to be back home ❤️@ManUtd pic.twitter.com/Ju9KowVGol— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) August 14, 2021 Everton v SouthamptonThis will be an interesting day in Liverpool. Everton’s new manager Rafa Benitez is not a popular man among the Toffees supporters. It’s a humiliation for them to see the former Liverpool manager take charge of their team. Only a strong start would give the Spaniard some breathing space. Southampton have not won at Goodison since 1997, however, and faced their own disruptions this summer, with Danny Ings and Jannik Vestergaard leaving. He can’t get a break! James is isolated by Rafa Benitez and in self-isolation because of Covid-19Chelsea v Crystal PalaceArsenal legend Patrick Vieira is back in England as manager of Crystal Palace. He’s got quite the task on his hands in the short and long term. A trip to Champions League winners Chelsea is a very tough for the Eagles. Thomas Tuchel’s side has already secured a trophy this season as they strolled to the European Super Cup win against Villareal. They will be without their new-old striker Romelu Lukaku but will pose a significant challenge for Palace.Chelsea msimu huu wamepanga kikosi chao vyema na mojawapo ya timu ambazo zinapaniwa kutwaa taji la Ligi Kuu Uingereza msimu huu, Crystal Palace ndio mgeni ugani Stamford Bridge siku ya leo. The squad looks almost identical to last season’s so it is tough to see where improvement will come from. Whether Brighton can capitalise and find the goals they have been sorely missing to climb higher is the key conundrum for Graham Potter. Both teams should look to fixtures like this one to pick points from.⚽️ 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲! ⚽️The Clarets kick off their 2021/22 @premierleague campaign this afternoon at Turf Moor & we can’t wait for you to join us 🤩#BURBHA | #UTC pic.twitter.com/fVoJYqSVEf— Burnley FC (@BurnleyOfficial) August 14, 2021 Leicester v Wolverhampton WanderersBrendan Rodgers will be hoping it is third time lucky for his team and has set about strengthening them further this summer with the exciting acquisitions of forward Patson Daka and midfielder Boubakary Soumare as well as adding the experience of Ryan Bertrand. Bruno Lage has been hired to turn Wolves into a vibrant attacking force and, with Leicester’s defence not at full strength, he will hope to start as he means to go on. But he may be concerned about his own defenders, too, as a lack of summer reinforcements raises questions about their ability to play the high-pressing style that Lage likes.Kelechi Iheanacho is an option for Roma in case they fail to lure Tammy away from Stamford BridgeWatford v Aston VillaIt’s going to be interesting to see how Villa do without their beloved Jack Grealish. The club broke their transfer record to bring in Emi Buendia, Leon Bailey, Danny Ings, Ashley Young and Alex Tuanzebe. Watford had the best home record in the top four tiers of English football last season, picking up 59 points from their 23 matches. They also won six of their last 11 at Vicarage Road in the Premier League, including a 3-0 win over Aston Villa in that run.The Jamaican speedster is officially a Villain: Baily signs from BayerNorwich v LiverpoolTo say Jurgen Klopp would be disappointed to leave Carrow Road without three points would be an understatement. Norwich have taken only two of the last 42 points on offer between the sides, conceding at least three goals in seven of their past nine meetings and a whopping five in three of the last eight. It’s almost time to do it all over again… Let’s put our hard work in pre-season into practice, Reds ✊🔴 pic.twitter.com/WzMbfYDlGP— Liverpool FC (@LFC) August 13, 2021 PREMIER LEAGUE – Round 1FridayBrentford – Arsenal 2-0 (1-0)/Canos 22, Norgaard 73/Saturday14.30: (1.60) Man.Utd.
