There can’t be a better mentor! Romelu Lukaku is talking to Chelsea great Didier Drogba all the time

Romelu Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge to attend to some unfinished business with the legendary Ivorian goalscorer Didier Drogba providing tips and tricks for the Belgian! The former Manchester United and Inter goalscorer revealed that he talks to Didier regularly and helped him improve as a player. In an exclusive interview with the club website, Big Rom delighted the fans by revealing that he’s very close to the man who scored 164 goals in 381 appearances for Chelsea.”Our relationship means the world to me. It’s not like we talk once a month, I talk to the guy every few days! We have a group chat so we’re constantly communicating and I’ve been on the phone with Didier a bit more in the past two weeks. I had a lot of questions to ask and he still knows a lot of people here so he really prepared me well with the last details. Now I just need to get to know the players and the manager a bit better and just be available as quickly as possible for the team.”Plenty to learn: Drogba and Lukaku in 2012 (©Gallo Images)Eight years after leaving Chelsea to join West Bromwich Albion on loan, Romelu is back at Stamford Bridge and is determined to shine for the club of his dreams. He’s not the same player he was when he left, though.”I just feel more complete. I’ve tried to master all the facets that a striker needs and I just want to keep improving on the small details all the time and keep improving on my strengths as well. I just want to try to help the team win and be available for the manager as well as for my teammates. I want to make sure that they feel comfortable and they can lean on me in whatever situation we’re in.”Saturday, 28 August: (2.45) Liverpool (3.25) Chelsea (2.95)Last season, Romelu bagged 30 goals for Inter as the Nerazzurri won the Serie A title. Although the two championships are vastly different, he’s no stranger to either style of football, having played for WBA, Everton and Manchester United in the past.”Italy is tactically and technically a better league, but here in England, it’s all about the intensity. That makes the difference, but it’s no problem for me because I’ve been here for eight years, and I know what it’s all about. It’s not like I’m a new player coming in and not quite knowing what to expect. I know the league, I’ve scored a fair amount of goals here, but the past is the past, and now we have to look forward.”Romelu Lukaku on Didier Drogba in 2011:🗣”Every time in training I spend some time with him. We talk a lot. I sit next to him in the dressing room. Every moment I spend with him, I listen all the time because he always gives me advice.”Learned from the very best💪🏼 pic.twitter.com/Wuso4hA4L9— ChelseaFCBlogs (@ChelseaFCBlogs_) August 10, 2021 Any striker is hungry for goals, and Lukaku is no different. But he’s returned to London to win trophies – and that’s his priority.”I don’t really talk about my personal ambitions but they lean with the club’s ambitions. That’s why I came back. Chelsea wants to keep winning, keep growing as a club and really dominate in England and Europe. That’s something that I wanted and I’m here now so it’s up to me to help the team achieve its potential.”
