Aduda blames FKF, CAF for Gor Mahia’s financial woes

Gor Mahia’s Sporting Director Lordvick Aduda has blamed delayed disbursement of grants from Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the deep monetary hole the club is currently languishing in.Aduda notes that they have been doing their best at the club to ensure that the club runs smoothly though there exits financial holes that have at times hindered the smooth flow of things.CAF assignments have taken a toll on Gor Mahia’s financial bit, with Aduda highlighting that the club incurs huge costs to honor a full round or matches, with the costs biting more when the team does not progress to the group stages where there is a hefty grant.”The federation owes the club money. The grants that had been delayed at the Federation are yet to be given to the club. The amount of money that is due to the club from CAF has also not been paid.” “To participate in CAF for one round, which is home and away, we require a minimum of six million shillings. If you play all the qualifying rounds and you do not make it to the group stages where there is 54 million and 27 million in CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup respectively is like all the money you have spent has gone to waste, and that leaves the club with holes,” Aduda said.More sad news for AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia after the #MashemejiDerby debacle https://t.co/A2E6JfvIsO— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) August 13, 2021 The former Gor Mahia CEO also rued the impact of Covid 19 protocols that have hurt Gor Mahia financially in that they are not benefitting from gate collections with no fans allowed during league matches. He went ahead to to add that sponsorship packages from their partners do not cover international matches, thus when they use money from those packages they are left with holes that lead to the delay of salaries as they await the grants from CAF.”With the covid protocols, it means that clubs have lost big chunks of money from gate collections and those are holes. Also,he packages that have been there before, even from the previous sponsors, have not been covering international matches. So for the club to participate in international matches, we have to get money from the amounts paid by the sponsor. If you do that and you do not recoup those amounts, definitely you will have a hole. That hole means that at times salaries delay or are not paid because we are waiting for the next grant. Even when it comes, it means that we have to pay what is long overdue while those of the preceding months continue to pile up. That is the situation,” Aduda added.⚽️| A sign of the times.South Sudan import issues Gor Mahia with an ultimatum or else he will walk out of the club at the end of the current campaign.#GorMahia #Sirkal #FKFPLhttps://t.co/HpyyCIDPKT— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) August 16, 2021
