Gor Mahia’s Alpha ruled out until next season

Outgoing record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have been dealt a blow in their run in to the 2020/2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season after midfielder Apha Onyango has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign after being unable to shake off a back injury sustained at the tail end of June. The midfielder who has been a revelation this season in Gor’s otherwise bleak season went off injured after just ten minutes in their barren league draw against Wazito played in June at Thika Stadium.Despite the injury not needing a surgery and the player being able to return to the pitch in the ‘Mashemeji Derby’ where he featured for sixty minutes, assistant head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo and club physio Musa Hamisi have announced that the after effects of the injury have consequently ensured the player will not be in mint shape to play the remaining two games, contrary to hopes of having the player being available.Nil all draw, but the @OfficialGMFC team is a commendable work in progress.Youngster Alpha Onyango is a great revelation in the midfield. #Sirkal#MashemejiDerby pic.twitter.com/Z1cU55q5hu— Eliud Owalo (@EliudOwalo) February 7, 2021 That, coupled with the fact that there is nothing left for Gor to play for as the defending champions currently sit in eighth position on the log on 42 points.“Alpha is not going to be able to play for the rest of the season. He played in the derby but he is still miles away as he complained of some discomfort. We are resigned to the fact that we will have to wait till next season before we have him back,” Pamzo said.⚽️|One of K’Ogalo’s revelations this season, Alpha Onyango, could miss the club’s biggest fixture of the year#Sirkal #GorMahia #Ingwe #MashemejiDerby https://t.co/tdN1eaopst— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) July 1, 2021 In Alpha’s absence, Gor will be looking to salvage pieces of their poor season in their final two games as they are within six points of finishing in fourth place if other teams fail to record wins.
