NSL: Kenya Police delay Talanta’s march to promotion

National Super League (NSL) toppers FC Talanta have shot themselves in the foot in the race to gain promotion with a handful of games to spare after playing Kenya Police to a barren draw at the Ruaraka grounds. Talanta who are three points away from sealing automatic promotion needed a win to confirm their participation in next season’s top-flight football but wrestled the spirited law enforcers to a fruitless match. The side who were missing their suspended forward Ken Mutembei will however look to make amends when they host the relegation battling Soy United this weekend at the Gems Cambridge grounds. The draw also meant that Police drifted away from getting elevation to top flight as they are third with 54 points, eleven behind Talanta and two off the second-placed Fortune Sacco. The net busters against Mwatate United Fc: Fred Nyakundi Malouda and Brian Kiako Woud chief. pic.twitter.com/d6A0MssOUw— Shabana Fc Kenya (@Shabanafckenya) August 18, 2021 In other matches played on Wednesday, Shabana enhanced their chances of making it to the playoff after narrowly beating Mwatate United at the Awendo Green Stadium.
