Omalla confident of a strong comeback to active football

Highly-rated national U23 forward Benson Omalla believes that the opportunity to train with the Harambee Stars team gearing up for the 2020 World Cup qualifier match against Uganda will set a solid base for his return to active football. The forward has kept a low since returning from Sweden in June after prematurely terminating his stay at Linkoping FC, a third tier club he had joined on loan from Gor Mahia. Although he bounced back with two goals in the past edition of the CECAFA U23 tournament held in Ethiopia, Omalla says getting a call up and training with the senior team has helped him restore his confidence ahead of his return to club football. Why Omalla is yet fo find his scoring instinctsThe former national U20 striker was however not spared when coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee axed eight players from the camp on last Sunday, a move which apparently freed space for the foreign based players. “Getting a call up injects confidence to a player and my case was not different. I want to build on it and work on my return to active football,” he said. The Happiness 🙏💥#GodAboveAll pic.twitter.com/ZCAqbUpyyM— Benson Omalla (@BensonOmalla) July 21, 2021 Despite being dropped from the team, the former Western Stima played exuded confidence in the forwards who were retained to put the ball past the Ugandan goalkeeper on Thursday. He noted that the trio of Eric Kapaito, Michael Olunga and Masud Juma had enjoyed consistent playing time with their respective clubs had were banging goals for fun in their leagues unlike him.A clear vision enables you to remain focused on your goals.we go again 🇰🇪vs🇸🇸🙏🙏.#GodAboveAll pic.twitter.com/tRBapHibKn— Benson Omalla (@BensonOmalla) July 29, 2021 “I really can’t complain at all for I had not played regularly as opposed to the other three forwards. Kapaito had a good season in our league while Juma and Olunga had been scoring for fun in the concluded season. There is no way I would have competed with them for playing time. I have confidence in them and in the team, “he added.
