Uganda’s Micho impressed with nullifying Olunga

After keeping Michael Olunga at bay in the entire clash, Uganda head coach Milutin Micho Sredojević was delighted after restricting Harambee Stars to long balls in the barren draw.Uganda Cranes picked up a vital point away from home as Harambee Stars put up a lethargic performance in the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.Speaking to the media after the game, Micho was impressed with how his side nullified the threat of Olunga in the clash as the Al Duhail forward failed to have a sight of the Cranes goal.Kenya 🇰🇪 0-0 🇺🇬 Uganda #KENUGA #FIFAWC2022Q pic.twitter.com/QD6WiMwBt4— Uganda Cranes (@UgandaCranes) September 2, 2021 “We limited the opponent on accident aspect of sending the long balls towards Olunga and we succeeded in keeping the clean sheet on the other side, as a coach I’m not satisfied with the way we are entering in attack, the way we held the ball and way we had numbers facing the ball, I will work on that,””There are positives that we need to pick, keep up and upgrade but there are negatives that we need to correct because we are playing against probable favourites Mali, I regret players who could not report due to the various reasons but I give credit to players who were here,” said Micho.Uganda arrived into the clash on a torrid run of results after losing three consecutive games including the build-up to the Kenya clash on Sunday against Ethiopia where they had pitched camp.Reflecting on the result, Micho noted that both teams deserved the point emphasizing the upper hand Kenya had coming into the match with the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) ending just recently. It was a match of two teams where one team is coming from a competitive season of the Kenyan league while we have been in offseason and lockdown, so it was very hard to prepare the boys physical for a match like this,””We are a team in transition and need to find a formula on how to operate, many quality players have retired and we have found replacements, we want to borrow a leaf from the generation of Under 20,” Micho.
