Football madness orchestrated by PSG: Neymar’s first contract revealed

For anyone out there who thinks that a world record purchase of Neymar for 29 billion Ksh is madness, new revelations will be even more shocking. When PSG paid the exit clause for the Brazilian from Barcelona in 2017, they didn’t spent only 29, they actually paid a staggering 64 billion Ksh for transfer, according to latest reports. Iberian „El Mundo“ revealed the details of Neymar’s first contract with the Parisians, which was signed after the initial 29 billion was paid for the transfer alone. Neymar signs contract extension with Paris Saint-GermainIn those days (and we are talking about 2017), PSG was already a big club, but certainly not big enough for the star players to jump at the chance to play in a weakest league in Top 5 European leagues. Some of their players (former and current) were definitely overpaid, in order to sign for the Parisians. The team was made out of the young guns (Mbappe, Verratti) and experienced but already ageing players (Alves, Di Maria) and the Neymar signing was that crucial punch which propelled them among the Europe’s elite. But, it came with a price. Nike split with Neymar over sex assault probeAccording to El Mundo, on top of the 222m euros PSG paid Barcelona, the contract Neymar had a gross annual salary of 5.6 billion over five season. In addition, should he remain at PSG for a sixth season, his salary would rocket to 6.6 billion euros, which brings the total sum of his transfer to around 64 billion. And the Brazil international’s current deal with PSG will expire in 2025 after he inked a new contract back in May. The details of that contract are not yet revealed, but one can assume that they went over the top (again), especially since it has been written before his extension that he would like to go back to Barca and play with Lionel Messi. It ended up as a win-win situation for the Brazilian as he signed a new contract, stayed in Paris and got Messi as a teammate. Neymar has played 71 league games for PSG since joining in 2017, scoring 56 goals and preparing 33. In the Champions League, he made 29 appearances for the French club (20 goals / 12 assists) but without a title (so far). Was this record worth this much money? Decide for yourself…
