Ceferin: ‘I wouldn’t mind if Real, Barcelona and Juventus left UEFA’

The Super League 1.0 version is gone, dead and dusted, but the new one is being rebuild as we speak. And the war of words (since there are not actions yet) is raging between UEFA and it’s president Aleksander Ceferin and the three remaining clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus. In the latest episode, it’s the Slovenian who hits at the ‘rebels’, stating that he wouldn’t mind if they packed their bags and left UEFA altogether. UEFA president threatens to boycott World Cup if Wenger’s idea goes aheadSpeaking for German ‘Der Spiegel’, Ceferin didn’t mince words while speaking about presidents Florentino Perez, Joan Laporta and Andrea Agnelli.”I would not mind if they left, it is very funny that they want to create a new competition and at the same time want to play the Champions League this season. Those clubs have simply incompetent managers. Those guys have tried to kill football. The clubs complain, that the salaries are too high despite the fact that they themselves have negotiated the contracts” said the Slovenian. It was revealed recently (again by Spiegel), that thee presidents are planning another attempt to replace UEFA’s elite Champions League competition. It has been reported that a 10-page document titled “Paving the way for the Super League: the strategy for reconstruction, reset – and victory” has surfaced. It lays out a campaign designed to win over other top clubs and key figures, such as politicians, stakeholders and journalists. The strategy outlines different scenarios for a new competition, such as a Super League 1, involving 20 clubs to replace the Champions League and a Super League 2, also containing 20 clubs, instead of the Europa League. There would be promotion and relegation between the two leagues.
