Tusker FC duo of Henry Meja and Eugene Asike are among five nominees for the 2020/21 Most Valuable Player accolade ahead of the end of season gala that will be held on Tuesday at the Safari Park Hotel in NairobiThe two were instrumental in their team’s title triumph last season with Meja scoring ten goals and assisting seven others. Asike on the other hand was rock solid at the back for the Brewers who had the second-best defence in the league. He also chipped in with two goals including the famous stoppage-time winner against Gor Mahia at the Ruaraka Grounds.The other shortlisted players include Sofapaka captain Lawrence Juma. The central midfielder enjoyed one of his best seasons in the league scoring 16 league goals and setting up five others for his teammates. The forward was in great form during the just-concluded season and scored 24 league goals. He also chipped in with five assists bringing his tally to 29G/A in the 30 appearances that he made for Sharks.Completing the list is former AFC Leopards striker Elvis Rupia who has since moved to Saudi Arabia. Rupia was second in the top scorers’ chart with 17 goals. He also contributed four assists.The maiden FKF-PL Awards Gala will award top performers in 12 different categories with players, referees, coaches, and team managers all walking home with awards. The gala will then pave way for the commencement of the 2021/22 season at the end of September.
