Ezekiel ‘Saachi’ Akwana has officially taken over as Mathare United head coach following the departure of Frank Ouna to Musanze of Rwanda.Akwana, a former Mathare United player was one of Akwana’s backroom staff last season and he now takes over from the departing gaffer. He will be assisted by George Midenyo who was Ouna’s assistant last season.The former AFC Leopards and Sofapaka has already reported for duty and last week he conducted close door trials at their training ground, Goan as he seeks to bolster the squad ahead of the new campaign that starts at the end of the month.He comes at a time when the club is at risk of losing some key players due to the nonpayment of salaries.
