25,000 Real Madrid fans waited 560 days to finally come to Santiago Bernabeu stadium and see their beloved team, and what a night it was for the faithful. Not such a good start, but a wonderful finish, with a het-trick from Karim Benzema and five goals in Celta Vigo’s net for another Ancelotti victory: Real Madrid – Celta Vigo 5-2. It looks like an easy win, but actually, the hosts had to come twice from behind, before finally scoring a leading goal in the 54th minute, when Vinicius Jr. scored the first of his two goals. The Brazilian also earned the penalty for Real in the 87th minute, which makes him as much hero as Benzema, a life savior for the Madrid club. Carlo Ancelotti has to fix his defense fast, as he will soon play against a much tougher opponent than Celta Vigo. 6 – @Benzema 🇫🇷 has been involved in six goals in his first four games in #LaLiga this season (3 goals & 3 assists), the best @realmadriden’s player starting after the opening four games in the competition since @Cristiano in 2015/16 season (5+1). Celta Vigo made Real pay for defensive work between Nacho and Militao and Mina found the back of the net with a low finish past Courtois. 5th minute, 1-0 to Celta. Real’s response was furious, and Ancelotti’s men were on the verge of equalizing a couple of times until it actually happened. Vinicius (twice) and Hazard had chances before Karim Benzema (who else) had a beautiful volley from Valverde’s back pass into the net: 1-1 in the 25th minute.
And just after everybody thought that it was all they gonna see from Celta for the night, the visitors were leading again, and it was poor defending from the home team again. Real Madrid got caught out on the counter-attack, and Cervi’s bold backheel attempt came back off the base of the post and the Celta Vigo midfielder does well to adjust his feet and finish the rebound. It was a great goal for another lead. Two shots on target, two goals, not bad for the first half.
Real Madrid have found an equalizer just one minute into the second half and again, Benzema came to the rescue, this time with a great header from a Gutierrez cross.
Celta had no more strength for the third goal, and Real had Vinicius Jr, who managed to find the net twice and put the game beyond any doubt, before earning a penalty with Benezma turned into a hat-trick and a final 5-2 score.
