FKF referees PET exercise concludes in Kericho

FKF referees Physical Endurance Test (PET) exercise has come to a close with match officials having being taken through thei for five days since Monday 13 September in Kericho County.The exercise saw 247 referees drawn from the FKF Leagues from Division One upwards taken through endurance and agility drills to test their physical ability, as well as medical tests to ascertain their fitness to officiate league matches.FKF Referees Manager Sylvester Kirwa confirmed that 247 referees were invited for the exercise, adding that only though who would pass the tests would be given the green light to officiate league matches.”It involves FIFA officials, Premier League officials, National Super League officials, and Division One men and women. We have 247 referees who have been invited to do the test for five days. Match commissioners will come on Friday and will be here until Sunday. We are doing these tests in accordance with how FIFA dictates we should. At the end of this exercise, those who have been here and pass the test will be cleared to officiate in the 2021/22 season,” Kirwa said.FKF referees pre-season PET training underway in Kericho County🔗https://t.co/Xt64UODXL5— Football Kenya Federation (@Football_Kenya) September 16, 2021 FKF Deputy President Doris Petra opined that the Federation is focused on conducting quarterly referee PET exercises which in turn help ensure the leagues are officiated in the right manner.“As a Federation, we deem to conduct quarterly referee PET training that helps ensure effective running of our leagues especially as we head into the new season,” the FKF Vice President said.The exercise comes at an opportune moment with the FKF Premier League set to kick off in a week’s time following the fixture released.Last season, there were cries of poor officiating in the top tier leagues from different quotas which saw some of the referees suspended from officiating matches on allegations of manipulation of matches awaiting investigations.FKF takes action against five suspected referees fixing games
