The 2020/2021 National Super League (NSL) Most Valuable Player (MVP), Portipher Odhiambo, is looking foward to the challenge that awaits in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) after completing his move to Kakamega Homeboyz from newly promoted Vihiga Bullets. In the just ended second tier campaign, the then Bullets defender fended off challenge from FC Talanta’s Anthony Gicho and Mwatate United’s Cornelius Juma to lift the valuable personal accolade after featuring in all 37 league games and helping his side to a second place automatic promotion spot in the NSL.In 2019, Odhiambo joined Bullets from Nakuru All Stars where he had started out after completing his studies at Menegai High School. After spending last season in the second tier, the defender was left delighted after joining Homeboyz.”It is fulfilling having completed my move to the top flight league. It was one of the targets I had set for myself at the start of the NSL season and getting this move is beyond imagination for me,” the defender told Mozzart Sport.Update:NSL MVP Portipher Odhiambo is now a Kakamega Homeboyz player. However, the player did not make the cut when the travelling party was announced. In an earlier interview, Odhiambo revealed his ambition of gracing the top flight after earning recognition from the junior national team set up.”It was good experience to be in the team and train with players who have been inspiring me through their success stories. I learnt how to pass the ball better and to carry the ball foward quickly instead of launching long balls. I believe I am ready for offers from top flight clubs,” a normal Portipher said then.He is your 2020/2021 NSL MVPVihiga Bullets defender eyes FKFPL step up https://t.co/Prw5QZL6f0 via @MozzartSportKe— Meshack Kisenge (@kisengemeshack1) September 15, 2021 Three months later, the defender has surpassed his targets and is set to reunite with Sylvester Owino whom he played with at Bullets two seasons ago.”Sylvester was someone I was really following closely since he made the big step foward.
