AFC Leopards management has come out to pour cold water on the crisis currently being witnessed at the club a few days before the 2020/21 FKF Premier League campaign kicks off.Ingwe have lost many of their key players to rivals due to lack of funds and cannot replace them because they are currently serving a transfer ban for failing to pay their former players and coaches. The key players who have walked out include; Elvis Rupia, Austin Odhiambo, Robinson Kamura, Benjamin Ochan, John Oyemba, Ezekiel Owade, Yusuf Mainge, Tsuma Said, Hansel Ochieng among others. The management has now issued a statement insisting that things are not as bad as it is being reported. In a statement released by the club’s National Executive Committee (NEC) Leopards insist that they have put measures in place to ensure that they raise a team that will represent the club next season. They went on to thank the players and technical staff who have stuck with the club. Are there tears for @AFCLeopards and @OfficialGMFC ? Are we back to 2004 once again? Whats going on in these clubs??— @MikeOkinyi (@MikeOkinyi) September 21, 2021 AFC Leopards statement Contrary to reports doing rounds on social media and sections of the press, the club has adequate playing staff and technical personnel preparing for the new season that kicks off on Sunday, September 26, 2021.The club would also like to dispel rumours that the head coach Patrick Aussems has left the club. The coach has a valid contract with the club and has been heavily involved in the pre-season training. The coach himself sends his greeting to Ingwe fans and is looking forward to welcoming you all in the stadium as soon as possible. The club is also aware that we have lost a number of players after we failed to agree on contractual aspects. We wish the players all the best in their future engagements. However, our focus is on the group of dedicated players in the camp and we are working tirelessly to ensure that their welfare is at the forefront of our season planning.Due to the FIFA transfer ban, we have not been active in the transfer window however our technical team has been working on a solution to raise quality and competitive team that will battle for honours in the coming season. Finally, the management wishes to thank the players, technical bench and more importantly you the fans and members for standing with the club through the turbulent times experienced in the recent weeks. We are regaining altitude and we shall soon be cruising again. Thank you!
