Tusker plotting swoop for AFC Leopards captain

A day after losing their opening league fixture to AFC Leopards, Tusker FC are plotting to sign Ingwe captain, Isaac Kipyegon to beef up their backline. The brewers suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat in the hands of Leopards at the Thika Sub-County on Sunday afternoon, a Musa Saad first-half goal is all they needed to pick the precious win against the champions. The win came against all odds as Leopards have lost a substantial number of players to rivals due to their financial struggles. They cannot replace them as well because they are currently serving a transfer ban slapped on the team by FIFA.Reports now indicate that things could worsen for the 13-time champions with the brewers now eyeing their captain. Following the departure of Sammy Meja and Eric Ambunya, Tusker have Hillary Wandera as their sole left-back and on Sunday for example he missed the match against Leopards through illness.REPORTS | AFC Leopards are set to lose a player days after announcing sponsorship with Betsafe.According to Nation Sports, Ingwe are set to lose the services of fullback Isaac Kipyegon. The former Zoo FC and Gor Mahia defender wants out ahead of the 2020/21 #KPL season. pic.twitter.com/kBK4pLPn9z— Micky Jnr ✪ (@MickyJnr__) June 22, 2020 They have now identified Kipyegon, who has been playing as a central defender in recent months as a backup for Wandera and this could be a huge blow for leopards who are particularly short at the back.“Tusker have already approached the player and the two parties are in talks. Kipyegon does not really want to leave but he has a good offer on the table and that could tempt him to make a move. Things will be clearer in the next few days but anything could happen,” a source close to the player told Mozzart Sport.Ingwe will be hoping that the former Zoo man turns down the Brewers’ advances to stay with them for at least one more season as they work towards getting the transfer embargo lifted.
