FIFA break a blessing for Posta Rangers centre back

Posta Rangers centre back Kennedy Owino is keen on using the forthcoming FIFA international break to fully adapt to coach Stanley Okumbi’s philosophy. Owino made his Rangers debut during their 1-0 loss suffered in the hands of Kariobangi Sharks last Saturday at the Thika Stadium, in a match where he partnered Faina Jacobs at the heart of defence. The towering defender joined the mailmen in the ongoing transfer window from the relegated Western Stima and was picked alongside Faina following the exit of Kevin Ouma who joined Ulinzi Stars and the unavailability of Suleiman Ngotho. Ouma was lured by the soldiers and earned him the man of the match accolade in their 1-0 win over Nzoia Sugar at the Nakuru ASK grounds last Sunday. Owino conceded that he struggled in his first match in the blue robes as he had not acquainted himself fully to Okumbi’s style of play that entails short and quick passes. He was replaced in the second half by Jackson Dwang.56’| Sub @posta_rangers Dwang comes in for Kennedy OwinoPosta 0-1 Sharks#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/VKZHtCWoq2— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) September 25, 2021 “I didn’t play well in my first match. I had hoped for a clean sheet and a win in the first match but unfortunately, it didn’t happen. The team is still new to me so is the playing style but I will seek to improve before we play our next match, ” he said. With teams set to enjoy a break after this weekend courtesy of the international break, Owino welcomed the breather noting that it will help the team gel and play more test matches.Prior to the break, Rangers will be seeking to redeem themselves from day one defeat when they host debutants Vihiga Bullets at the Thika Stadium. Bullets also lost their opening game by a solitary goal to Kakamega Homeboyz.Posta Rangers have made four more signings.Timothy Otieno joins from Sofapaka, Chrispinus Onyango has been roped in from Tusker FC while Kennedy Owino joins from Western Stima. If we play more test matches then I will get used to the demands of the technical bench. We have a good team that is capable of bettering last season’s results if we have good chemistry in the playing unit,” added the former Gor Mahia player. ##EDITORS_CHOICE##
