FKF issues guidelines for coaches in top leagues

Football Kenya Federation has issued a number of guidelines to be followed by the technical bench in the top four leagues for men and the top two leagues for Women; that is FKF Premier League, Women Premier League, National Super League, Women Division One, and Division One and Two for men in an attempt to promote professionalism and competence.Top of the list on those guidelines from a circular sent by the Federation is that all coaches, including the head coach and the assistants, overseeing teams in the FKFPL, WPL, NSL, and Division One, have to be licensed and should have at least a CAF C License Diploma while goalkeeping coaches will be required to have a CAF D license. For the coaches in the other two divisions, a CAF D Diploma will be suffiecient.@Nmwendwa I think it’s high time @kenya_fkf take the issue of foreign coaches seriously! Like that 25 years old boy at @AFCLeopards who was given the job by his cousin after getting another job in South Africa. He is not close to being even primary school coach.— Dancan Aboka (@AbokaDancan) January 8, 2019 Foreign coaches will have to have attained a recognized A License if they are to be allowed in the technical area.Local coaches who are Kenyan citizens will have to part ways with Ksh 500, non-refundable, to be licensed as per their levels of qualification while their foreign counterparts will have to fork out Ksh 100,000 and present their curriculum vitae for the same purpose. In addition to the licenses, only the head coach or the assistant will be allowed to give instructions at the touchline at any given time during matches.Team doctors and physiotherapists are required to submit their CV’s to the FKF technical department for scrutiny before accreditation to be allowed to be part of the technical bench.Clubs hiring foreign coaches in Kenya 🇰🇪 will have to pay $1,000 to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) after the decision was passed by the Annual General Assembly today in Kisumu. Foreign coaches will hand in their qualifications to FKF who will then check with CAF and FIFA.— Usher Komugisha (@UsherKomugisha) October 27, 2018 The measures being put in place are not new in the local football scene as they had been floated in at the start of the past campaign and thus will require a more stringent approach in implementing.Previously, there have been instances where technical bench members other than the head coach and or the assistant coaches step up to issue instructions to the playing unit.Musa Otieno headlines CAF Liscence B course attendees
