Messi’s debut goal for PSG seals the win against Manchester City

The long wait is over! The world’s best footballer Lionel Messi finally scored for his new club and what a goal it was! Reims, Club Brugge and Lyon were not attractive enough for the Argentinian to score his maiden goal for PSG, but when Manchester City and his former coach Pep Guardiola came to town, former Barcelona forward decided it was time to do something. So after 264 minutes for the Parisians, Messi smashed the ball in the top corner of Ederson’s goal for the final score: PSG – Manchester City 2-0.6 – Lionel Messi has scored six goals in four Champions League games against teams managed by Pep Guardiola (4 vs Manchester City and 2 vs Bayern Munich) – the most of any player in the competition against the current Manchester City boss. City defeated them in the semi-final, and after five matches, the Parisians finally managed to win against the Emirates owned English club, courtesy of Idrissa Gueye and Lionel Messi. It was actually a 32 year old Senegalese who broke the deadlock after only 8 minutes before the Argentinian sealed the victory 66 minutes later. It was actually Manchester City who dominated the match with 54% possession, 10 corners and 18 total shots (7 on target), but it was PSG who scored when needed. City clearly needs a prolific striker against top European sides, and maybe a decision to spend 100 million pounds on another midfielder (Grealish), instead of going all in on Harry Kane was a mistake. The first 10 minutes of the match belonged to the hosts, and they immediately used their first chance to score in the 8th minute. Mbappe started the action by driving to the byline, then pulled it back for Neymar who missed the ball, but it ended up with Idrissa Gueye, who smashed it into the top corner for the lead. After allowing too much space to Hakimi and Messi, the City midfield regrouped and took initiative. It was the guests who created a chance that you miss only once in your lifetime, and it happened to Bernardo Silva in the 26th minute. De Bruyne had a great cross and Sterling’s header was just perfect, but it ended in the crossbar. The ball fell to nearby Silva, who managed to hit the crossbar (again) in front of the empty goal from one meter!! After hitting the crossbar, the ball went to Silva again and then to the post. Unbelievable! Apart from the goal, PSG had a good chance in the 38th minute. Neymar made it down the left side and passed to Herrera, but Ederson tipped the shot over the bar. City had another chance in the dying minutes of the first half, but Ruben Dias’ header was saved by Donnarumma. Second half was all about City, who dominated the possession and attacked, but just couldn’t do much against a dense defense of the hosts. Every shot was deflected or went near the goal. On the other side, PSG patiently waited for the counter attacks. Neymar had one, but Walker was quick enough to catch him up and prevent him from scoring the second goal. But, when Messi finally got his chance, the Argentinian was deadly accurate. It was another PSG counter attack in the 74th minute when Messi passed the ball to Mbappe, who passed it back to Messi immediately with his heel and the best footballer in the world smashed the ball in the top corner for the final score and eruption in the stands.
