Mukolwe out to better last season’s performance

Bidco United’s custodian Edwin Mukolwe is aiming at improving his performance at the club this season and bettering that of the previous season.Mukolwe was elevated to Bidco’s first-choice goalkeeper following the exit of Omar Adisa to Wazito FC but he faces stiff competition from Brian Opondo who featured in the latter stages of the previous season and their new signing from AFC Leopards Ezekiel Owade. He was the preferred option in their season opener and made a couple of fine saves to keep a clean sheet as they played to a barren draw with the newbies. The shot-stopper is adamant of a better place finish for the club this season and is poised to help the goalkeeping department improve on their clean sheets tally this season as they tone down on goals conceded. One point on the road. Grateful. Despite the conditions, the boys did me proud. As the goalkeeping department, we want to concede fewer goals than last season and keep more clean sheets cumulatively than last season (11). Individually, I want to grow with the team. Last season I had five clean sheets, this season I want to keep more,” Mukolwe said.Though he admits to throwing glances at the national team call-up, Mukolwe is focused on being a better goalkeeper for Bidco and is welcome to a national team opportunity if it comes by in the process.“Yes, I would. It is every player’s dream to represent the National Team. But at the moment my focus is to be a better Goalkeeper for my club and when the opportunity for the national team comes, I’ll grab it,” he added.Bidco United have unveiled their newly signed players.
