Firat hails Tusker winger, tips him to flourish in Stars team

Hardly a day after Tusker winger Eric Zakayo lifted the lid on his ambition of making it to the Harambee Stars squad team that will confront Mali in back to back 2022 World Cup qualifiers, coach Engin Firat has hailed his talent.The youthful attacking midfielder revealed that he headed to the camp with an intention of sealing a place in the final team out of the 34 players called to prepare for the two crunch ties. He was drafted in the team for the first time and had previously made it to the national U23, Emerging Stars team.Firat said he had confidence in the youngster from the show he displayed in the sessions he has had with the team and tipped him to flourish in the national team colours.Zakayo dreams big after maiden Stars call up“When I first watches Zakayo, I believed in him. He has a bright future and he will have good moments in the national team,” he praised.At the same time, the Turkish gaffer did not hide his admiration for young players. I invited young players to the team just to give them a chance. I believe in all the players so long as they have the quality and talent, I don’t care how old they are even a 17-year should be given the opportunity if he fits the billing,” he added.Stars are expected to leave the country on Monday for the away tie set to be staged in Morocco.
