Gor Mahia midfielder upbeat ahead of return from injury

Gor Mahia midfielder John Macharia is yet to get any minutes of action under his belt this season but is set to return to action in the subsequent games and has set his sights on recapturing the title.Macharia missed a number of pre-season training sessions leaving him lacking match fitness in the opening games that K’Ogalo have played thus far.Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Macharia was delighted to feature in the 2-1 friendly win over Mathare United and has set himself a target of helping Gor Mahia reclaim the title.🟢 | TRAINING SESSION Easy touch John Macharia 🤝#Sirkal pic.twitter.com/KtCaID8Wau— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) February 5, 2021 “It was a good feeling to play yesterday, the team has become more aggressive and we are approaching more games with hunger, I’m sure we will perform well this season and I want to end the season with a league title,”“Right now the team is in a better place, we just have to aim for maximum points in our coming games no matter how hard they are because we have seen that Tusker and Gor Mahia are beatable,” said Macharia. K’Ogalo surrendered the title from Tusker FC last season following a disastrous league campaign that saw them finish in eight but they grabbed consolation by clinching the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup.With Gor Mahia set to resume action after the international break in the CAF Confederation Cup against Sudanese side Al-Ahly Merowe, Macharia hopes to feature after being encouraged by head coach Mark Harrison to improve his fitness. 🟢TEAM NEWS 🟢John Macharia during the light training session #Sirkal | https://t.co/Hc8koPGJrr pic.twitter.com/iuJhH9zVZW— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) September 22, 2020 “I’m confident of getting more playing time in the subsequent games as our aim is now to get into the group stages of the Confederation Cup. The coach had encouraged me to first get fit in training and that he would gauge me according to how I play in the friendly against Mathare,”“Since I resumed training, yesterday was my first game, I want to first regain my match fitness, yesterday I was one of the few players who played the entire match so I think the coach wants me to return my match sharpness,” added Macharia.
