‘Ungrateful’ Donnarumma facing boos by the home crowd against Spain

Maybe he was one of the heroes for Italian national team in the EURO 2020 (saved two penalties in the finals against England), but PSG goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma will not be welcomed at San Siro in tonight’s game of UEFA Nations League semifinal against Spain. Former AC Milan keeper, who was playing for Rossoneri since 2013, infamously left the club as a free agent in 2021, and earned a bigger deal with the Parisians. And that has not gone well with the clubs supporters. The group of AC Milan ultras, Curva Sud Milano, made a large banner near the hotel where the team was saying with an insulting message: “Donnarumma, you will never be welcome in Milan again. Shity man”.Striscione contro #Donnarumma da parte della Curva Sud del Milan @MilanNewsit pic.twitter.com/UyXZbox5Cu— Antonio Vitiello (@AntoVitiello) October 5, 2021 Not only that, but the Italian number 1 should expect boos when he steps up on the lawn at San Siro tonight, at least from Milan supporters. “It would be really sad. I have always given everything to Milan. Milan has been an important part of my life. It is a great emotion to come back. I will always be a supporter of Milan” said Gigio at the press conference. And former Milan great Fabio Capello is one of those people, but the former Real Madrid coach stopped short of supporting the boos at the stadium. “I hope they will fulfil his desire because he is a national team player who has given an enormous contribution. But let me tell you one thing: Donnarumma was ungrateful to Milan, going to PSG. For everything the club had for him and his family as a child, he should have behaved differently” said Capello. Azzurri’s quest for total dominance or consolation prize for Mbappe and LukakuUEFA Nations League semifinal against Spain will be a rematch of the EURO 2020 semifinal in which Italy won on penalties and Donnarumma saved one. Fabio Capello expects a tough match, and he is confident that the guests will dominate possession. “I don’t know if it will be harder but I expect some discomfort. Their football has often created difficulties for us. And I don’t think the match script will be so different. They will hold the ball. But if we are good in defense we have a good chance because Spain, which have many important absences, will leave us opportunities to score“ said Capello.
