FIFA piles more misery on Sofapaka

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Sofapaka FC are on the verge of suffering yet another transfer ban should they fail to clear the arrears owed to former player Omar Moussa who took his case to the world football governing body, FIFA , for an appeal.Back in January 2018, following an impressive performance at the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, Sofapaka signed the Burundian centre back on a two year deal from Rwandese side Bugesera FC. In a relationship that would later not end amicably, Moussa headed to the football tribunal to force his former club into paying arrears owed to him.BURUNDIAN, MOUSSA OMAR LANDS AT SOFAPAKA:Burundian Moussa Omar has signed a 2 year deal with @sofapaka_fc . The Respondent, Sofapaka FC, has to pay to the Claimant, the amount of USD 6,900 as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest p.a. as from 16 June 2021 until the date of effective payment. If full payment (including all applicable interest) is not paid within 45 days of notification of this decision, the following consequences shall apply:1. The Respondent shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid. The maximum duration the ban shall be of three entire and consecutive registration periods.2. The present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the event that full payment (including all applicable interest) is still not paid by the end of the of the three entire and consecutive registration periods,” the statement said. The latest ruling comes in the middle of Sofapaka still currently serving another ban that has ensured they are unable to register any players they have signed in the currently open transfer window. The current transfer ban was imposed by Zurich after Rwandese forward Justin Mico moved to FIFA to demand for their dues.✍️Confirmed and sealed deals so far.Hansel Ochieng (Forward)Kelvin Oduor (Defender)Daniel Guya (Midfielder)🤝Join us in welcoming our newest squad members. 🙏Karibuni #BatotoBaMungu@betikaKe @OyandoRonny pic.twitter.com/vecOokRS3H— Sofapaka FC (@FC_Sofapaka) September 18, 2021 Togolese international Moubarak Aigba is also threatening to add salt to injury thanks to the four-month he has gone without pay at the club. Aigba who is reportedly yet to return to Kenya from international duty where Togo played Namibia in a 2022 World Cup qualifier match in the last FIFA week revealed that his efforts to seek an audience with the club honchos and have his money have been futile leaving him to seek justice in Zurich.Batoto Ba Mungu are currently serving a transfer ban after Rwandese forward Justin Mico and Burundian centre back Moussa Omar moved to FIFA to demand for their dues.More trouble looming at Sofapaka as Aigba heads to FIFA
