Gor set jet out to Cairo on Wednesday

Football Kenya Federation Cup holders Gor Mahia are set to jet out on Wednesday morning for their first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup tie against Sudanese side AL Ahly Merowe set for Friday in Egypt.Gor were pitted against Ahly in the second round of the preliminary round after getting a bye in the preceding round and will hope to reap a positive result before finishing the job in Nairobi in the return leg.The club head coach Mark Harrison will only have sixteen players to select after the new ones failed to make it to the CAF register on time owing to the ban imposed by FIFA.Harrison will also do without the experienced Boniface Oluoch who is serving a four-match ban for reacting aggressively during last season’s away match to Napsa Stars of Zambia.🟢 | Friendly match results FT: Gor Mahia 1 – 0 KCB ( Peter Lwasa 88′) #Sirkal | #Betsafe pic.twitter.com/xbRRIxXfm6— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) October 7, 2021 With his absence, Gad Mathews is expected to retain his place in between the sticks with the youthful Caleb Omondi on the bench. However, the former Chippa United coach is glad to have his defensive midfielder John Ochieng available for selection after recovering from an ankle injury suffered in the Super Cup duel against Tusker.”I am confident that we will get positive results in the first leg. Have tried to gather enough information about our opponents and will spend the opening minutes of the game trying to learn more about them then fight for a win or a draw which is positive for me, “he said.Meanwhile, the club technical director Lodvick Aduda revealed that it will cost the club five million shillings to honor the away match and stage the return leg.“The club will incur in excess of five million for the two matches. I can assure you that we will honor the first leg without any qualms,” said the former Chief Executive Officer. Our CAF Confed match ( first leg ) versus Al Ahly Merowe of Sudan to be played in Suez, Egypt on October 15 and not in Sudan as earlier scheduled. #Sirkal | #Betsafe pic.twitter.com/IOTCsy572n— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) October 4, 2021 SquadKeepers: Gad Mathews, Caleb OmondiDefenders: Harun Shakava, Joachim Oluoch, Frank Odhiambo , Philemon Otieno, Fred Nkata Midfielders: Ernest Wendo, John Ochieng, John Macharia, Nicholas Ochieng, Sydney Ochieng Alpha Onyango Strikers: Benson Omala, Jules Ulimwengu, Samuel Onyango
