Wazito hoping to extend dominance over Homeboyz

Wazito will be seeking their first win of the season when they play host to Kakamega Homeboyz in a Football Kenya Football Premier League (FKF-PL) match on Sunday afternoon at the Utalii Grounds. The Francis Kimanzi-led outfit played to a one-all draw with FC Talanta in the first game of the season. Homeboyz on the other hand labored to beat newbies Kenya Police FC 1-0 at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County.Last season, Wazito completed a double over Homeboyz winning both games by a solitary goal. Michael Owino scored in the first leg played at the Moi International Sports Center before Whyvonne Isuza settled the second leg in Nakuru. It was the first time Wazito were beating the Kakamega-based club in a top-flight match. They are now under coach Bernard Mwalala after Nicholas Muyoti left for Nairobi City Stars and the tactician will be keen on making it two wins on the spin.Coach Francis Kimanzi and Cliff Nyakeya speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game against Kakamega Homeboyz at the Utalii Grounds.#Wazito4life pic.twitter.com/bHkFftF8ab— Wazito Football Club (@wazitofc) October 16, 2021 Ahead of the match, Wazito boss Francis Kimanzi said the break has been beneficial to his team as the pre-season period was short. He is also delighted as his team has no hamstring and groin issues.“We thank God for the two extra weeks of preparations that we’ve had. They were important because we did not really have sufficient pre-season time. The players have had enough practice and rest time and it was also a period for the new players to attain the right fitness level……At this stage of the season there are normally many cases of hamstring and groin injuries but luckily we do not have such issues and we are looking forward to the game against Homeboyz,” the former Harambee Stars boss said.##NAJAVA_MECA_5905497##On his part, Mwalala said he anticipates a tough match against Kimanzi’s charges.“We are ready for the game on Sunday. We have been preparing well in training during the break and I am confident that we are better than we were when three weeks ago. It is now a matter of going to put the knowledge we have gained in training into practice,” he stated. The tactician also disclosed that they have been working on their finishing which was a problem during their first game against Kenya Police in Kakamega on matchday one.On Location- Kanairo. #AbanaBeingo pic.twitter.com/uvW4gC1Gp3— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) October 16, 2021 “We have been working on our attack, especially positional awareness because this is a problem we picked during our match against Kenya Police and I believe that if we create chances as we did against Police, my players will do better,” he added. The match will kick off at 1pm.
