Mashemeji Derby highlights midweek FKPFL fixtures

The first leg of the 2021/22 Mashemeji Derby is set to be played on Wednesday afternoon at Kasarani Stadium according to fixtures released by the federation.AFC Leopards have started the season on a good note despite having a youthful team by their side, with a couple of their experienced players ditching the club for greener pastures, the recent exit being that of Caleb Olilo to Posta Rangers. The young cubs have shown what they can do at the den, beating defending Champions Tusker in the opening match and playing to a point against first runners-up KCB, but will they hold their mettle against a Gor Mahia side fresh from a 3-1 win at the continental stage? The first leg of the Mashemeji Derby will be played on Wednesday at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/ITUxVUcsat— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) October 17, 2021 Gor Mahia also started their league campaign well, sinking two past KCB but missed their second-round encounter with Kariobangi Sharks as they were out on continental duty. The two teams boycotted the second leg of the biggest match on the land last season and instead opted to play a friendly at Camp Toyoyo. In the first leg of the previous campaign, Gor and Ingwe played to a barren draw at Kasarani, with the last win for Ingwe coming in a 1-0 win in 2016 courtesy of a goal from Lamine Diallo, a win that ended Gor’s 35-match unbeaten streak in the top flight.Gor and Ingwe boycott Mashemeji Derby, play friendly match instead#MashemejiDerby | AFC Leopards’ last league win against Gor Mahia was on March 06, 2016 when they won 1-0 at Kasarani.
