Galacticos earn Kenya Police first win

Ambitious newbies Kenya Police finally got their maiden win in the top-flight Football Kenya Federation Premier League after the administrators got the better of Nzoia Sugar in an impressive 3-1 victory staged at Kasarani Annex Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. After being promoted to the top flight, Police had a woeful start to the season as they lost their first two games without even scoring a single goal. However, after the acquisitions of seasoned veterans led by Clifton Miheso, John Mark Makwatta, Duncan Otieno and Musa Mohammed, a breath of fresh air seemed to have been passed down to the newly promoted side as it showed against the visiting Nzoia where Miheso, Makwatta and Duncan all contributed to the team’s first top flight victory.Miheso was the first to show why Police went after his signing when he gave Police their first goal of the season with a low curling drive into the bottom of the corner in the 27th minute.Four minutes before the half time break, Duncan showed a glimpse of his expertise on the ball when he set up Eric Kipkirui for Police’s second goal of the game. With only minutes left before the half time break, there was still time for two goals to be scored in the match. A foul committed by Nzoia’s Ian Karani in the box left the centre referee with no option but to point to the spot,. Makwatta stepping up and sending the goalkeeper the wrong way for his first goal of the season and Police’s third in the game.Surprised by the scoreline from the newly promoted outfit, Gaetan Masha pulled one back for Nzoia from close range as Police went into the break with a 3-1 lead.Despite a four goal flurry in the first half, the second 45 failed to replicate the exact fireworks as no goals was scored with Police keen to see out the match. The administrators eventually held onto their two goal advantage as they picked their maiden win in the top flight at a third attempt.
