Wanda highlights Vihiga Bullets’ soft underbelly

Vihiga Bullets captain John Wanda has once again lamented over defensive mistakes that are costing the team in the top tier. The newly-promoted side has slowly turned to every team’s punching bag in the league. They have so far lost three of the four games they have played, the other, against Bidco United ended in a barren draw. The team has also let in nine goals in three matches. The latest defeat came in the weekend game against FC Talanta where they lost 2-0 and for Wanda, they have to fix their backline in order to start grinding results.”I do not think that we are a bad team. Overall we play well but we make so many errors at the back that’s costing us in each and every game, this is an area that we need to address soon. I believe that once we stop letting in easy goals, we will be able to compete and get good results,” he told Mozzart Sport. He also allayed any fears of the team battling the drop in these early stages of the campaign.Posta Rangers registered the biggest win in over 3½ years in their 4-0 win against Vihiga Bullets. The last time they scored four goals in a league match was in a 6-2 win against Mt Kenya United, now Dandora Love, in April 2019. In that season, Mt Kenya United were relegated. pic.twitter.com/ERXxNwYUGs— OptaKe (@ke_opta) October 19, 2021 “That’s out of the question. We are just experiencing teething problems and I know that we will be fine in the next few matches. We are really working hard in training to fix ourselves and we should be fine soon,” he added. For coach Evans Mafuta an addition of a few experienced players will help stabilise the Vihiga County-based Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) team.”We have a good team but the FKF Premier League is a whole new level and as such we will have to add a few experienced players. I need a keeper, a central defender, and a striker, all experienced. We are creating chances and it’s all about getting a forward who will convert them,””At the back, we need a keeper and defender who will bring in quality, league experience, and leadership, I think once we get these players we will be good to go, “he told Mozzart Sport.Next for Bullets is a home match against Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday afternoon.
