Mwalala notes laxity in Bullets win

Kakamega Homeboyz coach Bernard Mwalala says his side exhibited laxity in their 3-2 win over Vihiga Bullets on Sunday at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.Michael Karamor came off the bench to score a late winner after Bullets had twice canceled a Yema Mwana double through Rashid Kyambade and Mike Isabwa. The win was Homeboyz’s fourth in a row and in the process maintained their 100% record. They however let in goals for the first time this season.Despite the win, Mwalala admitted that his side appeared to underrate Bullets who have managed to pick just one point in five games, he is however grateful for yet another league win. The newbies are finding top-flight football tough with both scoring and defending appearing to be a big problem for them.“I had warned my players against any form of complacency but it appears that they did not heed to my advice and it was very evident in the game. We did not really play and as time went by Bullets got confident especially after they got the first goal and they really played well but fortunately, we got the winning goal. It would have been good to keep another clean sheet but at this point, the win is more important, “Mwalala told Mozzart Sport.FULL TIMEA 5 goal thriller ends here at Bukhungu StadiumVihiga Bullets 2 Kakamega Homeboyz 3#BulletsVsHomeboys#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/6qQU7DucEa— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) October 31, 2021Despite the good run, Mwalala insists that they have to keep improving. He says the fact that they let in two goals against Bullets means they have to work to fix their backline before next weekend’s assignment.“We have to keep working hard. When you are winning it is important but it also comes with pressure because your opponents prepare well to beat you and that means we have to be at our best by preparing well in training and applying what we learn at the training ground during matches. We let in two goals against Bullets and that is an area that we have to go back to the drawing board and fix before our next league assignment,” he added.Homeboyz next take on Bandari FC at their Bukhungu backyard.
