CAFWCL: Vihiga Queens name 27-member travelling squad for inaugural tourney

Kenya’s representative to the first ever CAF Women’s Champions League tournament, Vihiga Queens, have named a strong squad of twenty seven players who are set to battle it out against seven other sides when the inaugural continental competition kicks off on Friday November 5 in Egypt.Pooled in Group B alongside Mamelodi Sundowns, ASFAR Club and Rivers United, Queens will be hoping to finish in either position one or two as only the top two sides progress to the semifinals and get a chance to make history.One team, One dream! 💪@Vihigaqueens going to the #TotalEnergiesCAFWCL in style! ⚽#ItsTimeItsNow pic.twitter.com/p3QgVoAAkJ— #TotalEnergiesCAFWCL (@CAFwomen) November 1, 2021 In the squad to try and make that achievement possible, interim head coach Charles Okere has included teenage sensation Jentrix Shikangwa who finished as the Most Valuable Player in the East African qualifiers to the tournament. Tereza Engesha has also been included alongside Violet Nanjala.Queens will begin their quest in the tourney against Sundowns on Saturday.
