Sofapaka, Leopards out to end their four-game winless run

Former champions AFC Leopards will be pursuing to arrest their four-game winless streak when they travel to face an equally struggling Sofapaka at the Wundanyi grounds on Sunday afternoon. Ingwe have bagged a point from their last four league outings, a run that has seen them plummet to a place above the red zone with four points. The league giants whose off the pitch issues are largely to be blamed for the woeful start in the season have won a game from the five times they have descended to the pitch and will be looking to capitalize on Sofapaka’s poor form and scale to a respectable rank as well as their second win of the season.MATCHDAY #Betsafe #OursForever pic.twitter.com/wHsfIRqrcq— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) November 7, 2021 Leopards winger Peter Thiong’o says the three points will be theirs to lose as the technical bench has the new players available for selection. Ingwe who had a lean squad in the previous matches dashed late to the transfer market and acquired a host of players on the final day of the window.##NAJAVA_MECA_5962272##“We have come here at Wundanyi for the three points. It has been long since we gave our fans something to smile about. All the new players who arrived at the den on the final day of the transfer are here with us and had been pushing hard in a bid to get some minutes. It is positive as the bench now has options in all the departments and I believe starting today our fortunes will change for the better,” said the former Homeboyz winger.Similarly, the hosts will be hoping to make good use of home comfort and their four-match winless run. The 2009 league champions kicked off the season positively after thumping Nairobi City Stars 3-1 at the same venue but failed to replicate the winning attitude in the subsequent four matches where three have ended in defeats.Just like Ingwe, the Sofapaka bench has had to work with a small squad folowing their initial suspension from registering new players. However, the club bosses saved the day after deeping into their pockets and cleared with their former foreign players who had reported them to FIFA for breach of contract and consequently, saw the global body impose sanctions on the Kenyan outfit.🔵 Matchday🔛 @Officialfkfpl🆚 @AFCLeopards 📍Wundanyi Stadium 💰 Ticketing ksh 100 all round @betikaKe @OyandoRonny #BatotoBaMungu pic.twitter.com/9LfScHJTKi— Sofapaka FC (@FC_Sofapaka) November 7, 2021 Sofapaka head coach Kennedy Odhiambo is glad that his new players will be available for selection even though he noted that lack of proper preparations in the pre-season is still hurting the team.”We have shown improvements from the last three matches although we have come short when it comes to converting our chances. The new players have injected some energy in the team. Leopards have always been a tough opponent but I believe we will emerge victorious for the preparations have been good in the past days,” he said. Leopards won the first leg of last season 3-0, with the second leg ending 2-2
