Sharks outclass reigning champions Tusker to end three year losing streak

An impressive Kariobangi Sharks ended their more than three year underdog tag against Tusker as they stunned the reigning champions 3-0 in a Sunday afternoon league match played at Kasarani Annex Stadium. In the total outclassing of the Brewers by Sharks, league top scorer Felix Oluoch and super substitutes Sidney Lokale and Patrick Otieno were responsible for masterminding the rioting act as Sharks managed a first win over Tusker since 2018.”We had our chances in the first half which we did not take and it came to haunt us because in the second half we gave away really easy goals. All we are left with is to work to rectify the mistakes,” Tusker gaffer Robert Matano noted after the game”The second half was really good. It was a total performance from them and they deserved it despite just being young boys,” William Muluya, the Sharks tactician said. The Brewers were looking to maintain their more than three year dominance over Sharks who had failed to collect even a single point in their last five league encounters. However, ater just ten minutes, Robert Matano was forced into a rethink of tactics if that domination was to continue after Jimmy Mbugua, who started in the left back position was stretched off the field of play after sustaining injury, Hillary Wandera taking his place. In the scorching heat, the game had to wait till the strole of the half hour mark for the first clearest inroad in the game. And it fell the way of Sharks.A nice cut back in the area found Reagan Odede completely isolated on the edge of the Tusker box but upon releasing a strike certain to cause trouble, Christopher Oruchum made a wonderful sliding tackle to stop any potential threat. That piece of action seemed to spark the game into life as just five minutes later, Apollo Otieno took his turn in trying to issue a response for Tusker. the midfielder unleashing a fierce thunderbolt that forced Brandon Obiero into punching the ball out for a corner after a sprawling diving save to his left.Just a minute before the break, current top scorer Felix Oluoch should have given his Sharks side the lead and punished Tusker when keeper Brian Bwire came out of his line to clear a set piece delivery into the area but did poorly in punching his effort. With the ball falling kindly on his path, the striker with five goals who only needed to keep his effort low blared his effort wide off target. As if in retaliation, the Brewers managed to fashion a quick counter on transition with Sharks camped deep in the other half. Jackson Macharia managed what looked like a successful rugby conversion rather than an attempt on goal, letting Sharks off the hook and in turn the game going into the break with the deadlock intact.📸📸| 2nd Half Gallery @k_sharksfc and @tusker_fc #SharksVsTusker pic.twitter.com/3NHighnoZr— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) November 7, 2021 It was in the second half that the game completely burst into life. While Tusker started with the brighter ambition, a lack of clinical edge in front of goal when they had their chances meant they could not get any advantage. Those series of wastefulness would cme to waste them on the 65th minute as red hot Oluoch atoned for his first half miss by cleverly sneaking his effort into the near post with a low hut powerful drive that left Bwire sprawling. The striker enjoying his start to life at Sharks as he extended his goal tally at the top of the scoring charts to six goals.Just ten minutes later, substitute Sidney Lokale who had set up the first goal would turn from provider to goalscorer as he made a sweet swivel turn into the area before firing past Bwire for his first goal of the season. Before even the celebrations could settle down, Patrick Otieno, another substitute, sealed Tusker’s fate as he reacted quickly to a flicked header before firing for Sharks’ third goal and his first since his nasty injury that ruled him out for more than half a year. A.goal that drove the final nail in Tusker’s coffin and sealed all three sweet points for his team.Tusker Starting XI: Brian Bwire, Daniel Sakari, Christopher Oruchum, Kalos Kirenge, Jimmy Mbugua, Apollo Otieno, Teddy Osok, Jackson Macharia, John Njuguna, Shami Kibwana, Ibrahim JoshuaKariobangi Sharks Starting XI: Brandon Obiero, Fredrick Alushula, Geoffrey Shiveka, Samuel Olwande, Boniface Onyango, Steven Otieno, Douglas Mokaya, Patillah Omoto, Ronald Odede, Eric Mata, Felix Oluoch
