Why highly-rated Nzoia midfielder turned down offers from big clubs

Nzoia Sugar defensive midfielder Kevin Juma was one of the hotly sought after players in the transfer window as Tusker and FC Talanta were among the teams jostling for his signature. However, the Kenyan international opted to remain with the Bungoma based club who appreciated his allegiance by naming him the first assistant captain, deputizing Humphrey Katasi. The unit had to rejig their leadership structure after skipper Peter Gin called it a day, a development that saw Katasi who served as his assistant assume the armband.##NAJAVA_MECA_5973832##Juma who made his Harambee Stars debut in March, coming off the bench in the final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo in Lome said he opted to remain at Nzoia to polish his weak areas. Despite the staying put, the 25-year old whose contract with the sugar millers is set to expire in December next year did not rule out a move in the subsequent transfer window. “There were a lot of interests in the window but I chose to remain at Nzoia and sharpen some of the areas I felt needed to be addressed. My decision to remain at Nzoia doesn’t mean that I was afraid of a new challenge but I felt that one more season at Nzoia will be enough for me to be fully ready, ” he disclosed. Even as the hard tackling midfielder remains confident of nailing down a better deal in the next transfer window, he believes in the meantime that Nzoia will finish in the top ten under his leadership.90’| Goal @nzoiasugarfc2 Kevin Juma with a clean finish makes it level.Stephen has no chance Stima 2-2 Nzoia#BKPL pic.twitter.com/JT3WY3L0pj— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) July 13, 2021 The club is among the three who are yet to win a match this season and consequently sit second from bottom with two points from the opening six rounds of the new season. “We will bounce back and finish in the top ten. We have not been lucky in the matches we have played so far but I am sure once once we get our winning mojo back we will have positive results coming in consistently,” he said.
