Offers flock for Vihiga Queens heroic goalkeeper Awuor

Vihiga Queens goalkeeper Lilian Awuor has fell short of mentioning the myriad offers from clubs outside the country after her spectacular display at the inaugural CAF Women Champions League in Egypt.Queens bowed out of the tournament on Friday after finishing bottom in group B. Heading into the game, they had a chance of progressing to the semis as they sat second with three points. However, a shocking 4-0 defeat in the hands of Nigeria’s Rivers Angels FC who had lost their opening two matches saw Queens bow out of the tournament.Awuor was one of the Kenyan players who stood out in the tournament. She was named Woman of the match in the first game against Mamelodi Sundowns despite Kenya losing the game, in the second match against FAR Rabat she was equally outstanding as the Kenyan representatives won the game 2-0. Against Angels, she kept Queen in the game before they finally cracked after the hour mark. This girl Lilian Awuor 🇰🇪👌🏾⚽️#itsTimeItsNow #totalEnergyCAFWCL pic.twitter.com/gbWxEWymCc— Okeya Samantha (@nyar_Okeya) November 9, 2021 Asked whether she has already received some offers, Awuor remained tight-lipped but hinted that some clubs have reached out to the club management. “I believe there are offers, I think some teams have approached the management but I cannot speak about it right now because I am still waiting for communication from the management,” she told Mozzart Sport. On the team’s display at the tournament, Awuor believes that they gave their best and learned invaluable lessons from the showpiece.“We gave our best, I think yesterday was not just our day. This was our first major international tournament and I believe both as individuals and as a team we did well. We have picked lessons which I am confident will come in handy in the future,” she continued.“We have acquired good experience both on and off the pitch and we leave the tournament better than we came. We now shift focus to other club assignments,” she concluded. These remarkable ladies were titled TotalEnergies Women of the Matches of the #TotalEnergiesCAFWCL first round! 😍Way to go ladies, continue writing history! 👏 🔥#ItsTimeItsNow | @Football2Gether pic.twitter.com/ncXYdjb5jW— #TotalEnergiesCAFWCL (@CAFwomen) November 6, 2021 Kenya’s Women Premier League was set to commence today but it has since been pushed forward by the newly appointed FKF caretaker committee.
