Boost for Rangers as Ngotho resumes training

Posta Rangers head coach Stanley Okumbi can afford a smile after his skipper and battle-hardened centre back Suleiman Ngotho resumed training after two months out. The rugged defender suffered a knee injury in the final fixture of last season against Ulinzi Stars and consequently missed the opening six fixtures of the new season.Ngotho who was elevated to the rank of captain after Joseph Mbugi hanged his boots marked his return on Saturday, clocking full minutes when the Mailmen went down fighting 2-1 to Ruiru Hotstars on Saturday in a test match played in Ruiru.Mbugi retired last season and was subsequently elevated to the technical bench where he serves as the physical trainer.Ngotho revealed that he resumed training last week after completing the rehabilitation program and was looking forward to being selected when the league resumes.##NAJAVA_MECA_5977480##”I am back to the team after recovering from the knee injury that kept me out for more than a month. I have been training without strain for days now and even played the entire match in our friendly match against Hotstars on Saturday,” he said. For the time the former Thika United man had been sidelined, Okumbi had to pair the experienced David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng and Kennedy Owino at the heart of the defence. However, the former Harambee Stars boss regretted Ngotho’s absence in their one-all draw against Nairobi City Stars as Owino was suspended, forcing him to deploy Bernard Ondiek, a natural midfielder in the defence.Ngotho who hailed the team for the performance they had in the league said he was longing to play alongside Cheche when action resumes.Ngotho set to return to active football next month”I can’t wait to play with Cheche in the league. Having an experienced pair reminds me of the days I played with Jockins Atudo who used to make my work easy. Seasoned defenders read the game well and have discipline when it comes to positioning. They also teach you more and most importantly, they bring leadership to the team,” he added.
