FKF Caretaker Committee set to hold talks with out of contract Engin Firat

The government appointed Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee has stated that it is set to conduct talks with Turkish German tactician Engin Firat who is currently out of contract meaning he can no longer take charge of the Harambee Stars.Unveiled on 19 September 2021, Firat’s two-month contract officially came to an end on 17 November 2021 leaving the men’s national team without an official head coach.Harambee Stars officially coachless after Engin Firat’s contract runs outIn a press conference held on Saturday afternoon, the caretaker committee announced that they are ready to hold talks with the head coach with a view of retaining him.“The coach is going to be called and we are going to sit down with him and try to induct him on the caretaker committee and the mandate we have been given. We will hold talks together and review his contract after which we will make a decision on the way forward,” a member of the committee said.In his 60-day tenure, Firat oversaw four games for the national team where he won one game against Rwanda, drew one against Uganda and lost two back to back matches against Mali. When I took the job, I said that if I don’t see any future, then there is no need of staying. But these boys have shown the potential and that is all a coach can ask for and therefore I am interested to stay. Everybody who is not blind can see that this team has a very bright future,” he stated after his last match against Rwanda.
