He was accused of squandering over half a billion while in charge of the federation, this resulted in FKF being disbanded and a caretaker committee formed to run football activities in the country.Mwendwa had been arrested by DCI sleuths and later granted bail with judge Wandia Nyamu directing the prosecution to prefer charges against the FKF boss within a week or the file would be closed and on Thursday she closed the file after the prosecution said they were not going to charge Mwendwa at the moment.The federation through CEO Barry Otieno has now released a statement informing the public of the court process and added that they are working towards the resumption of football in the country.THE STATE closes file against FKF President Nick Mwendwa without preferring any charges against him. pic.twitter.com/Oz4ByfbGRT— Nation Breaking News (@NationBreaking) November 25, 2021 “Football Kenya Federation (FKF) wishes to inform FKF members and general public that the court has today 25th November 2021 closed the file against FKF President Nick Mwendwa following the failure by the state to prefer charges against him. The FKF president is grateful for the due process and will continue to work towards ensuring that football in Kenya returns to normalcy,” ready the brief statement signed by Otieno.This comes at a time when a caretaker committee formed by the federation is organizing for the resumption of football in the country. The committee chaired by Judge Aaron Ringera announced that football would be resuming on 4th December after a three-week suspension.
