Jota’s laughable miss annulled by ‘lucky charm’ Origi, Newcastle’s first win of the season and the South Coast Derby

After another stunner by West Ham, who defeated league leaders Chelsea at London Stadium, first day of Premier League matchday 15 provided us with some interesting results across England. And there is more to come.Near Birmingham, Wolverhampton Wanderers almost held their ground against one of the title favourites, Liverpool. Divock Origi’s late goal brought the much needed three points – final score at Molineux 0-1.It did not look like the Reds were are used to seeing lately, especially in the first half. The league’s highest scorers had their chances but they lacked their trademark clinical finishing – in the last 4 matches in all competitions, 2019 Premier League Champions scored 14 goals.Defense, what defense? West Ham score three goals past Mandy for a thrilling derby victory over ChelseaJurgen Klopp’s squad had a few opportunities in the form of Diogo Jota’s header in the 32nd minute and a low cross by Andy Robertson which no one redirected behind Jose Sa a minute later. Jota’s chance came after a great ball in from Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Portuguese forward could have done better from close-range as the ball went a whisker wide of the left post.Second half showed a more intense Liverpool side – the ball was almost completely on Wolves’ half of the pitch.In the 50th minute, Jose Sa made a sensational save to thwart Thiago Alcantara’s great chance. But what came 10 minutes later, surely marked the match along with the winner of Divock Origi.First, Leander Dendoncker placed a shot from the edge of the box towards the top left corner, but Alisson made a terrific save to deny him. Seconds later Liverpool were laughably close to scoring – former Wolves’s striker Jota burst into the box after Jose Sa left his own area, the Portuguese took his time but also made enough of it for Connor Coady to get back on the goal line and block Jota’s shot. It was a bizarre moment for Liverpool which also boosted Wolves’ confidence.Wolves got close to Alisson a bit more and started pressing the nervous Reds with nail-biting counter attacks.Fortunately for Klopp & Co, Wolves weren’t accurate also – after few unsuccessful attempts to possibly score against one of the best teams in the league, Bruno Lage’s side pulled back and concentrated on defending their goal.Senegalese rocket Sadio Mane could have brought the sigh of relief to all those whole support Liverpool but his miss in the 86th minute only deepened the negative energy in the Reds’ dugout.Liverpool kept pressing and it finally paid off. Red’s lucky charm Origi caught Salah’s low cross in the 94th minute and scored an incredibly important goal (as he almost usually does). Belgian of Kenyan descent and his teammates celebrated as if it was the final match of the season deciding the championship crown.Elsewhere, Eddie Howe finally brought smiles to northern England – Newcastle have their first victory of the campaign. Thanks to Callum Wilson’s beautifully placed projectile the Magpies brought first three points to their new Saudi owners by beating sturdy Burnley at St.James’ Park.Much further south, at he very coast of England – Southampton welcomed their neighbours Brighton at St.Mary’s Stadium where points were shared. Albanian striker born in England, Armando Broja scored a classy goal in the first half but Neil Maupay’s 98th minute equalizer stomped on the hearts of Southampton supporters.
