Kenya National Amputee Football Team misses World Cup ticket

The Kenya National Amputee Football Team failed to secure a ticket to the 2022 Amputee World Cup in Turkey after falling by a solitary goal to Morocco in added time to finish sixth at the just concluded 2021 Cup of African Nations for Amputees Football (CANAF) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.Kenya were the better side in the game but they failed to find the net, striking the post a couple of times as they held their own against the North Africans to the end of regular time. The spirited Kenyans would however crumble in extra time at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to lose not only the game but the last ticket to the World Cup next year.Angola, being the defending Champions at the World Cup, had a direct ticket and thus a chance for an additional team came up when they made it to the last four in the tournament.By edging out Kenya, Morocco joined world champions Angola, Ghana, Tanzania, and Liberia as teams heading to the global showpiece.Kenya featured first at the World Cup in 2014 finishing 12th before making another more improved appearance in 2018 with a ninth-place finish and were looking forward to their third appearance but it was never to be.Ghana were crowned African Champions after edging out Liberia 3-2 in yet another high scoring final just like in the other two in 2007 and 2011 pitting the two teams.Angola saw off host Tanzania to finish third, forcing the hosts to settle for fourth place.
