Ex Gor Mahia coach Oktay fired in Botswana barely four months into contract

Title winning ex Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay has been rendered jobless barely five months into his new work station after his stint at Botswana outfit Township Rollers was brought to an end on Wednesday 8 December 2021 after confirmation from the club.In a press statement released, the Tswana giants stated that the decision to release Oktay was reached after both sides agreed to part ways amicably with the development taking place with immediate effect.“This serves to inform Ma-Popa that the Club and Coach Hassan Oktay have agreed to part ways amicably with immediate effect. We wish to thank Mr. Oktay for his time with us and wish him all the best for his future endeavours,” a part of the statement read.Surprisingly, the decision to fire Oktay comes at a time when Rollers sit joint top of the log having only lost one league match in the seven they have played under Oktay this season. The Englishman, who is famously remembered for leading Gor Mahia to their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal in 2019, joined the Southern African outfit in August at the beginning of the 2021/2022 Botswana Premier League season.During his short stay, the tactician masterminded a famous 1-0 derby win over fierce rivals Jwaneng Galaxy. A Galaxy side that was fresh from booking their place in the CAF Champions League after massively upsetting Tanzanian giants Simba.HASSAN OKTAY STATS AS ROLLERS COACH #KillerPass9 games6 wins2 defeats (Cup semi final and league game)1 draw pic.twitter.com/hh9WyQ0nl5— killerpass Botswana (@KillerpassBOTS) December 8, 2021 Following his sacking, Oarabile Seabo was appointed as the interim head coach till a permanent solution is found.“We wish to inform you further that Mr. Oarabile “Wilshere” Seabo has been appointed as Interim Head Coach, on a caretaker basis and subject to approval by BFA, until a more permanent solution has been found by the Club.
