Nzoia head coach Ibrahim Shikanda hints at exit citing frustration

Nzoia Sugar head coach Ibrahim Shikanda has thrown the clearest sign yet that he could soon be departing from the sugar millers after enduring what he termed as frustration accruing from being in charge of the Western based side.Since the start of the 2021/2022 league season, Nzoia have found it difficult to get going in the campaign as they have failed to pick any win in the eight games they have already played, consequently sitting in second last on the log table where they find themselves as early relegation contenders alongside the winless Vihiga Bullets who occupy last position.Having joined the millers back in January 2021 where he helped them avoid relegation after a 14th placed finish, the former player turned tactician revealed to Mozzart Sport that he could soon be heading for the exit door for some time off barely one year into the job.“Very soon I might announce my stand on the team because I think it is better to go and get some rest outside football. This sport can be a real headache sometimes and I think I just need that rest to keep off football for some time,” the head coach revealed after their barren draw against Nairobi City Stars on Wednesday.Nzoia Sugar FC boss Ibrahim Shikanda has two- three games to save his job. The club has also lost some of the finest talents with Hillary Simiyu and Gabriel Wandera joining Ulinzi Stars and Bidco United respectively with Elvis Ronack and Dennis Wanjala also departing.“It has not been a good run for the team because things are also not okay. When you look at the way things are, we are just pushing the boys because this is our job. Most players have left and we are just trying to mould the team to try if we can get back to where we know we can. At least we managed to get a point against Nairobi City Stars and, after what we have been through, that is a positive result for the team,” he remarked.Back in October, Mozzart Sport revealed how the team is struggling to cope thanks to huge debts written against their parent sponsor. For their away trips for instance, the club has been forced to use alternative means as the club bus donated by current Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa could be seized as it has been earmarked as one of the company’s asset.Nzoia FC risk losing their bus to auctioneersAuditor General Nancy Gathungu in her latest report as report said that Nzoia Sugar Company’s liabilities outweighed its assets massively and thus the firm was technically insolvent.
