Mathare, City Stars tussle for victory at Ruaraka

Both Mathare United and Nairobi City Stars are seeking to get back to winning ways when the two teams clash at Ruaraka Grounds in a league match set for Saturday afternoon.Going into the game, Mathare, who find themselves without a win in their last four games, are looking to atone for the manner of their capitulation in their last outing against Kakamega Homeboyz where they let slip of a two goal advantage as they conceded two goals in the last seven minutes of play during the midweek away fixture.A result that consequently saw them fail to push themselves from the bottom five where they now sit in 14th place on 7 points, only two above the relegation places. However, going into the clash against City Stars, the slum boys feel the task at hand is feasible as they boast of having the last win, in the two sides’ encounter, where Clifford Alwanga and Daniel Otieno struck for their 2-0 lead back in August.According to striker Eugene Wethuli who scored one of the goals in the 2-2 draw against Homeboyz, the team was left in inspired form despite the stalemate and will look to ride on that wave to pick a second win in two games against City Stars.”The team fought gallantly in a territory that is difficult to get a point leave alone a win. It is unfortunate we conceded deep into stoppage time perhaps due to the challenges we had faced before the game but we still appreciated the point. The result left the team inspired that we can get the three points when the face City Stars,” the striker told Mozzart Sport. On the other hand, Nicholas Muyoti has seen his side grow into an inconsistent team that has produced two draws, one win and one defeat in their last four games after a three match winning streak. Results that the former Homeboyz coach would love to stem at the second highest scoring team in the league.“We had a disappointing result last time out against Nzoia Sugar and mostly because we did not create enough chances. That is something we lacked and in our game against Mathare we will need to work on our final third if we are to get a result,” Muyoti said. The match kicks off a 1500 EAT.
