Sofapaka’s Ouma takes swipe at Tusker

Sofapaka FC assistant coach David Ouma has taken a swipe at Tusker FC saying he did not expect them to play so many long balls during a league match between the two sides on Sunday that ended in a barren draw. Tusker returned to the local scene after bowing out of the continental scene in the hands of CS Sfaxien. They missed out on a Caf Confederation Cup group stage spot after losing 1-0 on aggregate to the Tunisian side. They faced am inform Sofapaka on their return to local league, a match that ended in a barren draw. It was largely a colourless game with a few chances for both teams. Most of the action took part in the middle of the park where flying tackles were witnessed throughout the game. At the end of 90 minutes, the spoils were shared, many would agree that it was a fair outcome but Sofapaka coach Ouma had something to say about the Brewers’ style of play. 📷 Action images from today’s barren draw against @tusker_fc @betikaKe @OyandoRonny #BatotoBaMungu pic.twitter.com/AgcP9jJ2AS— Sofapaka FC (@FC_Sofapaka) December 12, 2021 He slammed them for their long-ball approach whilst opining that he expected better from Robert Matano’s charges after their continental sojourn. “We knew that they would apply pressure but we did not expect so much long balls from them. This is team that has been in the champions league, they have to play with some class, go to the wing areas, get wing areas, play with the cut backs but they played too direct which I think my players did too well to handle,” he told Mozzart Sport. On his team, he praised the players for what he termed as a good game but believes that they would have done better had they been more creative upfront.”I congratulate my players because we played on Wundanyi on Wednesday and a few days here. There was an element of fatigue but my players did play well, our build up was good, we defended and attacked well and I think the only thing that let us down was that final ball into Tusker’s area. Had we gotten that right then we would have won the game but as I said before building a team is a continues process and we will keep fine tuning such areas,” he added.Next for Sofapaka is a home game against Posta Rangers.
