Sevilla mean business! Two great goals enough to undo Atleti and cement second spot

Lucas Ocampos hit a late winner to give Sevilla a hard-fought 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid at Ramon Sanchez Pisjuan on Saturday night. The result keeps Sevilla in La Liga’s second spot with eight points over Atletico.Former Barcelona ace Ivan Rakitic hit a fantastic long-range opener early on before Atleti’s defender Felipe scored a header to level against the run of play. It was a gruelling physical fight that could have gone either way, but it was Sevilla’s Argentinean winger Ocampos who found the net in the dying minutes to send the home crowd berserk. In order to shake things up in the second half, Atleti boss Diego Simeone made a bold call to bring off his top scorer Luis Suarez, which infuriated the Uruguayan as he angrily left the pitch. As the final 20 minutes approached, tempers were rising all around, with a host of ferocious tackles going in, and both managers were animated in their technical areas, adding to the tense atmosphere in Seville.Joao Felix almost won it after a mazy run into the box, but his shot was well blocked, as Atleti ramped up the pressure in search of a winning goal. However, it was the home side who found the winning goal and all three points. The loss for Atletico sees their title defence continue to stutter, as they have struggled all season. Sevilla however, continue their brilliant league campaign, as they sit in second place, five points behind league leaders Real Madrid. There was still a late problem for Sevilla as match-winner Ocampos had to be stretched off after picking up what looked like a painful injury.LA LIGA – Round 18FridayCelta Vigo – Espanyol 3-1 (1-0)/Mina 3, Aspas 47, Suarez 82 – Moron 90+2/Saturday Rayo Vallecano – Alaves 2-0 (2-0)/Guardiola 19, Catena 26/Real Sociedad – Villareal 1-3 (1-1)/Isak 32 – Moreno 38, 68, Chukwueze 90+6/Barcelona – Elche 3-2 (2-0)/Jutgla 16, Gavi 19, Nico 85 – Morente 62, Milla 63/Sevilla – Atletico Madrid 2-1 (1-1)/Rakitic 7, Ocampos 89 – Felipe 33/Sunday16:00 Granada – Mallorca18:15 Athletic Club – Real Betis20:30 Getafe – Osasuna23:00 Real Madrid – CadizMonday 23:00 Levante – Valencia***odds are subject to change
