Top-five-chasing Talanta take on a limping Leopards at Nyayo stadium

Football Kenya Federation Premier League debutants FC Talanta will be hoping to relocate their mojo when they play a tepid AFC Leopards on Sunday at the Nyayo Stadium. Talanta lost their previous encounter 2-0 to Posta Rangers and will head to Nyayo keen on bagging their fifth win of the season that will send them to the top five bracket.Ken Kenyatta’s charges have performed fairly well in their maiden season in the top flight, and could end the year being among the top three teams should they win the remaining two rounds.Ahead of the Leopards duel, Kenyatta is worried that the absence of his two forwards who picked up what appeared to be long term injuries while in action against Rangers and an unspecified number of lieutenants who have down with the flu will hamper their chances of getting three points.Talanta lost the duo of Anthony Gicho and Barrack Odhiambo leaving Kenyatta who also admitted to having had a week to forget thanks to the flu a worried man.”It was a challenging week for me but I am glad that I recovered and trained the team for a couple of days. I lost two influential players in our loss to Posta and they are likely to be out for the rest of the season . I will also be without a number of players who were taken ill a few days ago. While I would have been happy to have all players ready for selection, this is an opportunity for those who have not been getting playing time to play,” he said. While Kenyatta will be looking to guide Talanta to their fifth win of the season, his Leopards counterpart Patrick Aussesms will be seeking to relieve pressure off his shoulders as the club has been reduced to a punching bag this season.Blow for FC Talanta as Gicho and Odhiambo are sidelined until next yearIngwe have won two matches from the nine times they have descended to the pitch, scoring four goals and conceding eight, a run that is certainly poor of a club of their calibre. The former champions were on the verge of getting their third win of the season last week away to Vihiga Bullets but conceded an equalizer late to settle for a point.Jumapili pia ni sawa Talanta FC vs AFC Leopards Tupatane Nyayo Stadium kesho saa tisa#Betsafe #OursForever #YaMatere pic.twitter.com/JPwJTV5Jpf— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) December 18, 2021 The club’s assistant captain Peter Thiong’o believes that the training sessions they have had have helped sharpen the striking front that has been a let down in the past round.”We are going for the three points today. We have trained well for the match especially on getting the ball past the line and I feel we will give our fans something to smile about,” he said.
