NSL: Namasaka explains why Zoo are winless

Zoo FC midfielder Edwin Namasaka feels that the lengthy period they were out of competitive football has contributed to the poor results the club is registering in the National Super League. The Kericho based club was prematurely relegated to the second tier in May after being found guilty of match manipulation and consequently the players who did not manage to leave had to wait for the current season to play at the competitive level.Zoo bosses retained nearly all the players who constituted the team that plied trade in the top flight with the exception of Tayo Odongo and Collins Neto who joined Biashara United and Bidco United respectively. It ends with a draw here in Wundanyi…we were reduced to 10 men as Ondati picked a red card on the first half..Unto the next!FT Mwatate 1-1 Zoo#fcukzoo #MagicalKericho #NSL pic.twitter.com/3RbCm1J8W6— Zoo FC (@zoofootballclub) December 11, 2021 Herman Iswekha’s charges haven’t celebrated a win in the five times they have descended to the pitch, a run which Namasaka has attributed to loss of sharpness the players were out of action.”The long break affected us in an extremely bad way. You can not compare playing amongst yourselves to taking on teams where three points are at stake. Going for more than six months without competitive football watered down the chemistry between the players, ” he said.Namasaka, a younger brother to Bandari stalwart Danson Chetambe also lamented over the absence of three key players who have been battling recurring injuries. He said the club had to play its previous matches without Bernard Wanguche, Dennis Ongeri and Derrick Anami who all have been on and off the treatment room.Happy Birthday Edwin Namasaka ’16 #fcukzoo #MagicalKericho pic.twitter.com/YYbaM3Ess0— Zoo FC (@zoofootballclub) November 3, 2020 “The three players have missed some of the last rounds due to injuries. Their experience would have helped us get at least a win or two,” he said.Despite the poor start, Namasaka is confident that they will end the year positively by thrashing Murang’a Seal in their next match.
