Akumu’s Covid-19 stricken Chiefs to lodge appeal against PSL Decision

Kaizer Chiefs, home to Kenyan international Anthony Akumu, have issued a statement confirming that they will appeal Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) decision that denied them their request to postpone their remaining games for the month of December after the club recorded an increased number of Covid-19 cases that shot from an initial 31 upto 52 infected people.Yesterday, Monday 20 December, Amakhosi received communication from the PSL wherein the league governing body declined the club’s request for a postponement of matches despite a severe outbreak of Covid-19 cases that saw 52 of the Club’s personnel test positive for the virus.Akumu’s Covid-19 stricken Chiefs denied request to postpone gamesIn a rebuttal statement released on Tuesday evening, Chiefs expressed their disappointment in their requests being turned down as they stated they would take the issue forward to the country’s football mother body, the South African Football Association or the Dispute Resolution Committee.“Kaizer Chiefs is disappointed and taken aback by the contrasting lack of urgency from the PSL after having taken almost three weeks to address the matter.
