WPL: Sparks train their guns on winless Kayole

Women Premier League (WPL) side Zetech Sparks will be looking to make it two wins in three matches when they face Kayole Starlets in a third-round match set for Tuesday 4 January at Stima Club. The Bernard Kitolo-coached varsity side opened the league on the losing end, going down 2-0 away to Trans Nzoia Falcons but recovered to record a 5-2 win over Kisumu All Starlets in Nairobi. As they face Kayole at Stima Club, Kitolo says they are angling for maximum points and an improved performance. “We started slowly against Falcons but the performance was much improved against Kisumu as evident from the scoreline. We are, however, taking it one match at a time and adjusting our approach depending on the opponent. #KWPL 🇰🇪 Kenya Women’s Premier LeagueStandings pic.twitter.com/BMxsbqcDEf— karl rothwell (@karlyboy71) December 28, 2021 We have played against Kayole on several occasions last season but theirs is a fairly new squad so we will not be complacent. We give the side the respect they deserve and go in ready to fight for maximum points,” said Kitolo. The tactician further exuded confidence in his squad, promising to stick with the winning squad that did duty against Kisumu. “I am satisfied with the performance of all my departments. We struggled a bit in the last two matches with goalkeeping but we have already addressed the issues in training and I expect a good show from my players. Additionally, we have a solid defence and if we execute like we have done in training, we will bag maximum points,” he added. WPL: Ulinzi on a redemption path as they face WadadiaKayole will be chasing their first win, having lost to Thika Queens and Gaspo Women in their two opening matches.
