Caretaker Committee sets Div 2 kickoff date, warns against unsanctioned league

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee has marked Saturday 22nd January as the kickoff date for Division Two and fired a stern warning to teams participating in unsanctioned leagues.Despite the top three tiers of men’s football being up and running, Division Two is yet to kick off after closing its curtains last season.pic.twitter.com/NilVlJwErZ— Emmanuel Mketu (@EMketu) January 6, 2022 The Caretaker Committee revealed that the league will kick off after a meeting with Division Two clubs and issued a warning to teams contemplating in unsanctioned leagues. “Division 2 (MEN) is set to commence on 22nd January 2022. The Division 2 League (MEN), the Fourth Tier League of the FKF Leagues, shall commence upon a meeting with Division 2 clubs in the coming days to agree on modalities of running the league.The Committee wishes to inform Division 2 Clubs that there is no other league that has been sanctioned by FKF CC as purported by individuals unknown to the committee and governance and management of football in the country,” read a communication from the Committee. Progressive FC crowned Div Two Northern Zone champs, promoted to Div OneClubs were also notified of the repercussions of participating in an unsanctioned league by the Caretaker Committee as stipulated in Chapter 2 of the FKF Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football (2019).The previous FKF regime had resorted to running a number of leagues with the National Super League (NSL) commencing but the results were later annulled.
